The AXA Foundation for Human Progress Reveals 13 Winners of its International Call to Tackle Violence Against Children
The AXA Foundation for Human Progress has announced the 13 laureates of its international call for projects to fight violence against children. In France, Spain and Colombia, these ambitious and innovative initiatives aim to advance this critical societal issue.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 2 children worldwide experience physical, sexual or emotional violence, making the fight against violence against children a critical societal issue across the globe. Yet too much violence against children remains unseen, unspoken, and unaddressed.
As a continuation to its 10-year support to violence against women, AXA has launched in fall 2025 a dedicated program to address this silent emergency, led by the AXA Foundation for Human Progress, backed by a €10 million budget over three years. This bold initiative aims to break the cycle of violence against children by supporting a comprehensive, multi-stage protection chain—prevention, detection, disclosure, protection, healing and transformation—through targeted partnerships.
As the first milestone of this multi-year program, the AXA Foundation for Human Progress launched its first international call for projects in autumn 2025. Rolled out during the first year in France, Spain and Colombia, the call targeted associations, NGOs and foundations and resulted in the selection of 13 innovative and locally rooted projects, following a rigorous process that combined local expertise and global strategic coherence. On May 27, during a visit to AXA Colpatria in Colombia, AXA Group CEO Thomas Buberl announced the laureates of this first call for projects.
Violence against children is a silent emergency that we can no longer afford to ignore. With this program, AXA is committing long-term resources and partnerships to make the invisible visible, protect the most vulnerable, and help break the cycle of violence.
Thomas Buberl AXA Group CEO
Supported over a three-year period, these 13 projects led by recognized organizations will focus on three key challenges:
Addressing the invisibility of violence against children
Developing long-term child protection programs
Tackling the root causes of such violence
Support for the creation and development of child helplines, training and equipping education professionals (teachers, youth workers, etc.), and funding dedicated support centers are among the many initiatives supported through this call for projects.
Violence against children remains one of the most pressing yet underestimated threats to future social cohesion, risking to fracture the fabric of entire communities. The organizations we are supporting embody, each in their own way, innovative and locally rooted solutions. Together, they work across the full spectrum: making violence visible, establishing safe and sustainable protection pathways, and addressing root causes to prevent it from occurring in the first place. Protecting children is a long-term commitment, a cornerstone for building a resilient and cohesive society.
Clément Rouxel General Delegate of the AXA Foundation for Human Progress
Beyond its role as a funder, the AXA Foundation aims to be an active architect of sustainable solutions, fostering long-term impact for vulnerable children and their communities.
In September 2026, a new call for projects will be launched to support projects in Italy and Senegal.
