Risks of climate change & coastal communities Pr. Roshanka Ranasinghe
In this ambitious scientific program, Professor Ranasinghe will be pursuing three separate research lines. While studying the impacts of climate change on the coasts, he will also model climate change driven coastal hazards and develop innovative coastal risk assessment methods and tools.
His research outcomes will enable science-backed, efficient cost-benefit assessments of both hard adaptation strategies like engineering structures for example, but also of softer options such as spatial planning, innovative architecture and construction.
Ultimately, these would represent a major advancement in coastal risk mitigation.
