Dr. Petra Holden works on nature-based solutions for an equitable, biodiverse, and sustainable climate future. Her research has included attributing the impacts of climate change on water security and quantifying how well nature-based solutions can offset anthropogenic climate change on water-related ecosystem services.
She also undertakes research to provide evidence on nature-based solutions accounting for social equity processes and sustainability of ecosystem services given climate changes. Specifically, she focuses on supporting decision-making, planning, and implementation of more equitable and sustainable nature-based solutions in southern African ecosystems and landscapes critical for water supply. This includes increasing awareness of the opportunities, constraints and limits to nature-based solutions.
