AXA-Chair for the Improvement of Healthcare Quality
Prof. Saturno’s objective is to structure system-wide initiatives to improve the quality of health services, aiming for universal and equitable access. His research tries to generate knowledge about barriers and the right interventions, rooted in a deep knowledge of the social, economic and health-system related causes. Key to the objective of equity in health is preventing, facing and remedying the life-long effects of vulnerability.

Why access to healthcare is not enough
While providing access to healthcare globally to as many people as possible is widely recognized as a priority, improving the quality of healthcare, especially in low and middle-income countries, should be seen as equally as important.
